Developers Announce Plans for Cornelius Woods, an Active 55+ Community

June 20, 2019

CORNELIUS, NC–The Lake Norman area is growing and more and more people are looking to call it home. To meet the demand for adults 55 and older, local developers have unveiled plans for Cornelius Woods.

Cornelius Woods, which is expected to break ground in late 2019, is an active retirement community in the heart of downtown Cornelius. The community is also in close proximity to local attractions like shopping, Lake Norman, entertainment, restaurants and just 20 minutes from Uptown Charlotte.

Cornelius Woods will include upscale one- and two-bedroom condos and two- and three-bedroom villas. Floor plans range in size from 870 to 2,000+ square feet and feature open-concept living, corner units with large windows, 9-foot ceilings, walk-out patios or balconies, private storage, garages or covered parking, and many interior design customization options.

Christy Allen, a Lake Norman-area Realtor and part of the project leadership team, said the group saw the need for this new community and is excited about its potential. Other project team leaders include Wyatt Clark, Sr., founder of WAC Contracting and a partner in NC Homes and Associates, and Curt Needham, a partner in NC Homes and Associates.

“Location is what people are looking for when making real estate choices, and Cornelius Woods is situated perfectly to so many attractions. The active adult community will offer an incredible quality of life for its residents,” said Allen. “Of course, the homes will be first class as well, and when you couple that with the location it is a winning combination.”

Cornelius Woods will offer residents walking trails, a grilling and picnic area, fire pit, dog park, community garden and access to a community center with exercise room, event space, library, dance floor and activity director.

The Cornelius Woods Discovery Center is open at 21303 Catawba Ave. to learn more about the community.
