Galerie Living to Make First Foray into DC-Area Market

December 20, 2021

Atlanta-based senior living innovator Galerie Living has acquired the former National 4-H Conference Center at 7100 Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase, Maryland. In partnership with D.C.-based Community Three, the award-winning leader in senior living communities will bring an unparalleled standard of design excellence, elevated amenities, and expert management to transform the property into a vibrant community that offers healthy living and happiness to residents and their families. This will be Galerie Living’s first community outside of Atlanta.

“This site represented an incomparable opportunity to bring our signature commitment to excellence and innovation to the D.C. region,” said Tim Gary, Founder and CEO of Galerie Living. “With respect for the heritage of this unique site and its community, this new Corso community will be meticulously and carefully designed—from concept through construction and management—in close collaboration with the surrounding community and the Town of Chevy Chase.”

Located on 12.2 acres just north of the District, the property hosted a former nonprofit hotel and conference center that has been closed since March of 2020. The asset was initially valued at $20 million and was sold as is.

Plans for development of the site are in the earliest phases. Future planning will be conducted in close consultation with neighbors and community leaders, who have expressed interest in maintaining and opening access to green space and public recreation, developing residences that respect the context of surrounding neighborhoods, and systems and uses that answer community concerns for conservation, traffic, and school capacity. The development team has selected architects Torti Gallas + Partners to design the project and Soltesz to provide engineering services.

“We believe that our brand’s dedication to creating unexpected happiness for seniors, families, and communities respects a proud 4-H legacy of head, heart, hands and health. This site is ideal to bring our Corso community, blending comfort with beauty in a location that will enable our residents to remain near to their families, which is as important to healthy living as any medicine,” Gary said.
