Goodwin Living Names Dr. Cyrillene Clark as Chair of the Board of Trustees

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Last month, Goodwin Living, a not-for-profit, faith-based senior living and health care services organization in the National Capital Region, announced that Dr. Cyrillene “C.C.” Clark has been elected chair of its board of trustees. Clark is the owner of Crichlow Clark Group, a talent management and leadership consulting firm. She brings more than two decades of consulting expertise across industries, from work with nonprofits to biotech, education and government. She succeeds Mary Lewis Hix in the position. Hix served as chair of the Goodwin Living board of trustees from 2019 to 2022 and remains on the board.
“I’m honored to return to the Goodwin Living board and to serve as chair. The work we do alongside and on behalf of older adults can be a national example,” said Clark. “As we move forward, we will continue to demonstrate our passion for those who live in our residential communities or are touched by our work, while bringing our expertise in serving older adults with excellence to more people and places. I am grateful to Mary Hix, who has led this board with wisdom and a laser focus on doing what is right.”
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the chair and be a part of the evolution of this remarkable organization,” said Hix, who has been an active volunteer leader in Alexandria for many years, and formerly served as vice president for finance and administration at Virginia Theological Seminary. “The Goodwin Living board of trustees will soar under Dr. Clark’s leadership.”
Clark previously served on the Goodwin Living board of trustees from January 2013 to December 2020, chairing the community contribution and accountability committee, which focuses on the volunteer service of residents and Goodwin Living team members to support the needs of older adults across the region. For the past two years, Clark has served as chair of the board of directors for Voices for Virginia Children, the commonwealth’s only independent, multi-issue child policy and advocacy organization. She earned a Ph.D. from Penn State University in industrial and organizational psychology, a master’s in psychology from Villanova University and a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University.

In addition to Clark, the following officers were elected:
- Ben Marcantonio as vice chair: Marcantonio serves as chief operating officer and interim CEO at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
- Vipin Sahijwani as treasurer: Sahijwani serves as president and CEO of Lynx Investment Advisory.
- Tucker Eskew as secretary: Eskew serves as partner at Vianovo, L.P.
As a faith-based, not-for-profit organization, Goodwin Living has been led by a volunteer board of trustees since it opened its first senior living community in 1967. The Goodwin Living board of trustees guides the governance and strategic directions of the organization. Today, nearly 2,500 older adults are served daily by three Goodwin Living senior living communities, a federally-assisted nonprofit senior living community and a growing portfolio of health care services supporting older adults who are aging in place in their homes throughout the National Capital Region.
