Gulf Coast Village Named Best Skilled Nursing Facility

May 31, 2022

CAPE CORAL, FL—Gulf Coast Village has earned the title as one of the Best Skilled Nursing Facilities in Florida from U.S. News & World Report for 2021-2022 for both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care. Only 65 facilities in Florida earned this title for 2021-2022, based on performance.

For over 30 years, Gulf Coast Village has been the premier continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Cape Coral, Florida. The community offers the security of knowing there is a full continuum of care when needed, including independent living, assisted living, specialized memory support, skilled nursing, outpatient services and home health care.

The data used to evaluate nursing facilities nationwide comes from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services (CMS) and includes metrics of nurse staffing, COVID vaccination rates among staff, patient outcomes, facility complaints, patient safety and rehabilitation therapy.

For short-term rehabilitation, they evaluate a facility’s quality of care for patients recovering from a hospital stay after a stroke, heart attack, infection or accidental injury.

The long-term care evaluation includes a facility’s ability to care for residents who need daily help with medical needs such as administering medications, and non-medical needs such as dressing, eating and using the bathroom.

“Our team works hard every day to provide the highest level of care for both our short-term and long-term residents,” said Greg Anderson, executive director of Gulf Coast Village. “The honor of being named as best nursing facility for both of those categories by U.S. News & World Report is representative of our dedicated staff and our commitment here at Gulf Coast Village to patient care and safety.”
