HumanGood Joins Perennial Consortium, HumanGood’s Cochrane Joins Perennial Consortium Board

October 8, 2024

DUARTE, CA — HumanGood, a nonprofit provider of senior housing and services, has joined Perennial Consortium, LLC, the parent company of Perennial Advantage, a network of Medicare Advantage plans.

According to a press release, this strategic collaboration of industry experts will enable both HumanGood and Perennial Consortium, LLC to improve operational efficiencies and continue to provide high quality and innovative senior care. This concerted effort increases access to top tier value-based care to an expanded network of senior living residents across the care continuum.

“I am excited to join the Perennial board,” said HumanGood President/CEO John Cochrane about his recent appointment to Perennial Consortium, LLC’s Board of Directors. “By coming together with Perennial, we can help grow our mission to inspire the best life for more residents and families.”

HumanGood recently joined Perennial when the Southern California-based senior living company purchased Christian Living Communities’ shares in Perennial Consortium, LLC. Christian Living Communities remains an owner of Perennial Advantage of Colorado, Inc.

“The addition of HumanGood to the small but committed group of owners of Perennial Consortium, the parent to the various Perennial Advantage state MA plans, is a tremendous opportunity for Perennial to expand its geography and resident markets,” said Lynne Katzmann, founder/CEO of Juniper Communities, one of Perennial Consortium’s founding companies. “At the same time, they will continue to grow and foster our steadfast dedication to driving benefit programs which are most responsive to senior living residents and in so doing, permit senior living communities a means to capture the incredible value they create for older adults and the American HealthCare System.

“John brings a distinguished track record in industry leadership and innovation,” Katzmann added regarding Cochrane. “We trust he will bring new ideas that will further enrich the offerings Perennial currently provides. It is that collectively held creativity and drive to benefit older adults that has allowed Perennial’s plans to model benefits like care coordination at the community level and more recently, rent subsidies that we believe will become common to other MA plans over time.”

HumanGood employs approximately 5,000 team members and serves more than 13,000 residents in its 23 retirement communities and more than 100 affordable housing communities.

Perennial Consortium, LLC is a parent entity of both Perennial Advantage of Colorado, Inc. and Perennial Advantage of Ohio, Inc. Perennial Consortium, LLC was formed in 2019 when three prominent senior living providers — Christian Living Communities (Englewood, Colorado), Juniper Communities (Bloomfield, New Jersey), and Ohio Living (Columbus, Ohio), and managed services partner and risk management company Curana Health — joined forces to form Perennial Advantage, an operator-owned Medicare Advantage (MA) network.
