Maravilla at The Domain Receives Distinguished CARF Accreditation

March 30, 2023

AUSTIN, TX — Maravilla at The Domain, Senior Resource Group’s (SRG) upscale continuum-of-care retirement community in the heart of Austin’s most exclusive residential and retail district, announced Wednesday it has received Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International’s highest level of accreditation.

“We are thrilled to announce our community has been awarded a three-year accreditation from the CARF,” said Maravilla at The Domain Executive Director Mark Ranno. “CARF accreditation has been the recognized benchmark of quality health and human services for more than 50 years. From day one, our goal has been to make Maravilla the gold standard for luxurious, active retirement living; it’s very gratifying to know we have achieved that goal in the eyes of the CARF organization, but more importantly, in the eyes of our residents and their families.”

Maravilla’s three-year CARF accreditation applies to each of its residential lifestyle offerings including—Independent Living; Assisted Living; and its Enliven Dementia Care Specialty Program.

The three-year accreditation will extend through February 2026.

“The three-year CARF accreditation awarded Maravilla at The Domain is the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to a retirement community and shows the community’s substantial conformance to the advanced values established by CARF,” said CARF President/CEO Brian J. Boon, Ph.D., in his letter informing Maravilla’s leadership of the decision. “This achievement is an indication of your organization’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of the persons served. Your organization should take pride in achieving this high level of accreditation.”

In general, CARF accreditation signals a service provider’s commitment to continually improving services, encouraging feedback, and serving the community. To receive CARF accreditation, a community must undergo a comprehensive evaluation process that assesses it in terms of internationally recognized standards for quality, safety and service. Residents of CARF-accredited facilities and their families have additional peace of mind knowing the community has undergone a thorough third-party review process and has been recognized for its dedication to excellence. The CARF distinction also ensures the community’s services will continue to meet or exceed industry standards in the coming years.

The CARF Accreditation Report on Maravilla at The Domain provided a lengthy summary of the community’s strengths, praising the leadership of Maravilla for their abundant talent, saying “their commitment to serving the residents and developing the staff is reflected in [the community’s] culture.” It lauds Maravilla for offering “a variety of choices for resident socialization, dining and wellness” and goes on to say, “Maravilla at The Domain puts [its] values into action, as evidenced by the resources, staff training, and implementation of the Enliven [memory care] Program. Using the methods and resources provided has allowed the staff to look at the value of resident contribution in a new way. As a result of this commitment to ensuring an increased person- centered environment, the residents are happily engaged with the services.”

The residents at Maravilla and their families expressed to CARF surveyors how pleased they are with the care and services provided, and how grateful they are for the staff’s responsiveness to any concern.

“Family members noted how well the community is run and how helpful, knowledgeable, caring and open the staff members are with the residents.”

CARF also praised Maravilla’s Zest program, a holistic wellness program that offers a world of invigorating and relaxing activities to achieve balance for the mind, body and soul.

“The Zest program is varied, and the residents are given a choice in what they want to do. Staff members embrace a resident-centered approach in the program, promoting freedom and independence for each resident. There is a high level of satisfaction with the program expressed by the residents and family. Residents are encouraged to take an active role in utilizing their talents.”

“This is a momentous milestone in our growth and development of Maravilla and its culture,” said Ranno. “We could not have achieved this distinction without our amazing team members who work tirelessly to provide exceptional care to our residents every day, and I want to praise every one of them for their tireless dedication.”
