Memory Care Expansion Begins at Summit Estates Senior Living in Reno
February 28, 2019
RENO, NV–Summit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care, a Mission Senior Living community, is expanding its memory care neighborhood with a 3,200 square-foot addition that includes accommodations for eight additional residents. The $900,000 construction project began on Feb. 28 and is expected to take about six months to complete.
“To improve the lives of seniors and their families is why we’re here,” said Darryl Fisher, president of Mission Senior Living. “This expansion allows us to touch a greater number of people with our mission of caring people, serving people and improving lives.”
Summit Estates is a 94,911 square-foot, two-story building located on 6.25 acres at 222 West Patriot Blvd., in Reno. Currently, 24 residents live in the memory care neighborhood and 92 residents reside in assisted living. The community opened in 2016 and is led by Administrator Amanda Jenkins.
“Through exercise and wellness programs, brain-boosting activities, healthy dining and social opportunities on and off-campus, residents can be their best selves and fill their days with as much or as little activity as they’d like,” explained Jenkins. “The expansion of our memory care neighborhood will give even more residents the care and attention they need.”
Summit Estates’ memory care program, “Ready Set Go,” helps residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia live full, happy lives in a safe, loving home. Trained team members work with medical providers and family members to provide individualized care. Activities, programs, and journey stations situated through the neighborhood are designed to stimulate the senses and engage the mind.
In assisted living, residents enjoy a variety of amenities, including a bistro and coffee nook, a movie theater and concierge, a barber shop and beauty salon, a wellness center, and a private office for visiting physicians. A personalized service plan is created for those who need assistance with daily activities, such as medication management, dressing, and bathing. Housekeeping and laundry, transportation, exercise programs, and a full-time nurse are available.
Residents can socialize in spacious indoor gathering areas, with large windows, a fireplace and a pool table. The community’s outdoor courtyard has a grilling area, pergola, and putting green, along with raised garden boxes for resident gardeners. Chef-prepared meals are served in the dining room.
Summit Estates currently employs 59 full-time team members and estimates adding 10 full-and part-time positions upon completion of the expansion. Local contractors include Reliable Framing, Inc., Eagles Crest Excavation, and Western Pacific Electric, Inc. Project partners include Pinnacle Architects, PA, MSL Construction, LLC, and Contract Interiors.
Summit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care is one of five assisted living and memory care communities operated by Carson City, NV-based Mission Senior Living, with additional locations in Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon.
