Memory Care Expansion Complete at Summit Estates Senior Living in Reno

October 4, 2019

RENO, NVSummit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care, a Mission Senior Living community located at 222 East Patriot Blvd., Reno, has announced the completion of the expansion of its memory care neighborhood. The 3,200 square-foot addition includes accommodations for eight additional residents. The $900,000 construction project began in February 2019.

“This expansion allows us to continue our mission of improving the lives of everyone who lives at Summit Estates,” said Darryl Fisher, president of Mission Senior Living. “Treating our residents with dignity, respect and the utmost care is what sets us apart and this expansion complements an already  beautiful, warm and welcoming community.”

Summit Estates opened its doors in 2016 with room for 24 memory care residents and 92 assisted living residents. Fisher said the memory care expansion is MSL leadership anticipating the needs of a community.

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there are 45,000 Nevadans currently living with Alzheimer’s and that number is expected to grow to 64,000 by 2025.

“We’re here for the family in and around Reno,” said Administrator Amanda Jenkins. “In addition to providing a safe, loving home where trained team members can provide individual care and attention, we’re offering families support by serving as a resource as they navigate the challenges associated with this devastating disease.”

The new neighborhood provides congregate living and common spaces for socialization, meals and activities. Raised garden boxes and comfortable seating are located in a secure outdoor courtyard and activities, programs, and journey stations situated through the neighborhood are designed to stimulate the senses and engage the mind.

Summit Estates’ memory care program, “Ready Set Go,” helps residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia live full, happy lives in a safe, loving home. Trained team members work with medical providers and family members to provide individualized care.

Local contractors involved in the expansion include Reliable Framing, Inc., Eagles Crest Excavation, and Western Pacific Electric, Inc. Project partners include Pinnacle Architects, PA, MSL Construction, LLC, and Contract Interiors.

Construction for Mission Senior Living’s Mesa Valley Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care in Mesquite, Nev., started in late 2018, and is expected to open its doors this fall. MSL’s first residential community, Mountain Lakes Estate Retirement Living in Reno, broke ground in August 2019 and is slated for completion in the summer of 2020.

Summit Estates Senior Living and Memory Care Community is one of six assisted living and memory care communities operated by Carson City, NV-based Mission Senior Living with additional locations in Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon.
