Ribbon Cutting Held for Bridges® by EPOCH at Lexington

June 27, 2022

LEXINGTON, MA—Bridges® by EPOCH at Lexington celebrated the opening of its new memory care assisted living community, designed exclusively to support seniors with dementia. The ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration was held at the community, located at 56 Watertown St., on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

Bridges® by EPOCH at Lexington is a joint venture between EPOCH Senior Living, a premier provider of senior care since 1997, and National Development, a real estate investment and development firm based in Newton, Massachusetts. This opening marks EPOCH Senior Living’s 11th Bridges® by EPOCH stand-alone memory care assisted living community in New England. EPOCH Senior Living also operates four luxury Waterstone Senior Living communities in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York, with Waterstone of Lexington currently under development in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Bridges® by EPOCH at Lexington is located next to the Belmont Country Club and has three residential households, each consisting of 16 memory care suites—14 private suites with private bathrooms, and two companion suites offering private bedrooms and a shared bathroom.

“It’s a milestone day for our organization,” said Joanna Cormac Burt, EPOCH Senior Living’s chief operating officer. “The energy and enthusiasm for this community have exceeded our expectations. We are honored to bring our compassionate care and enriching approach to families in the Lexington area in need of dedicated memory care for their loved ones.”

In Middlesex County, 15% of the population has already reached their senior years, a number that will continue to climb as baby boomers age. It is estimated that the number of people 65 and older with Alzheimer’s dementia will reach 12.7 million by 2050. With these staggering numbers, it’s more important than ever that seniors and families have a senior living option to provide exceptional memory care when the time arises.

Bridges® by EPOCH at Lexington has been meticulously designed with numerous safety and support features to enhance quality of life and provide a safe, comfortable home for those at all stages of memory loss. In addition, the community offers an array of services and amenities, including a wellness center, salon, household country kitchens, library and therapeutic gardens and walking paths. The development enables many longtime Lexington and local residents to stay in the area they love, while receiving the care they need.

Memory care programming at the new community includes a dedicated life enrichment team that gets to know each resident personally, and customizes activities and therapies to promote engagement, encourage success and raise self-esteem.

“For individuals and families affected by memory loss, our community offers something different, something fulfilling—a dedicated memory care community that offers compassionate support along with a truly enriching lifestyle,” said Alicia Seaver, EPOCH Senior Living’s VP of memory care operations. “Our uplifting and truly personalized approach to daily living and care has been well received with energy and enthusiasm.”
