SRI Management Marks Growth at Annual Corporate Retreat

October 27, 2021

Acknowledging the nimble approach and extraordinary guidance its leadership employed in the past 18 months, SRI Management LLC welcomed its entire Executive Director team for a three-day retreat and training in Savannah, Ga., Sept. 22-24. Designed to provide a much-deserved respite and training opportunities while celebrating significant growth and success amidst the challenges of 2020 and beyond, more than 35 corporate employees gathered for the event alongside more than two dozen Executive Directors from communities within their senior living portfolio.

“The landscape of senior living has changed drastically since early 2020,” said Don Bishop, ceo, SRI Management. “The SRI Management leadership team responded with incredible grace, flexibility and a genuine passion for their communities, residents and employees. Because each one of them embody the SRI culture and core values of Character, Compassion and Commitment, SRI Management has seen tremendous success, adding 10+ new communities to our portfolio since the beginning of this year.”

Since the beginning of 2021, SRI Management has opened and broken ground on nearly a dozen new communities, and welcomed one existing community into its portfolio, bringing the company’s total count to 34 top independent, assisted living and memory care communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Those new to the portfolio include:

• Seagrass Village of Gulf Shores (Alabama)
• New Haven at Little River (South Carolina)
• The Canopy at Boynton Ridge (Georgia)
• The Canopy at Walden Woods (Florida)
• Bay Port of Fort Walton Beach (Florida)
• The Canopy at Hickory Creek (Florida) – under construction
• Magnolia Bridge at Murrells Inlet (South Carolina) – under construction
• Seagrass Village of Daphne (Alabama) – under construction
• Harper’s Station (Virginia) – under construction
• The Residence at Oak Grove (Georgia) – community takeover

The retreat agenda focused on topics facing senior living management teams today – operations, occupancy and associate engagement – with paneled discussions designed to share best practices. In partnership with SRI Management vendors and event sponsors, Yardi, Guardian Pharmacy, A Place for Mom, HD Pro and USI Insurance Services, breakout sessions shared ways to utilize tools SRI Management provides its Executive Directors to achieve success in their respective communities. Guest speaker Jey Mbiro and CEO Don Bishop held a special session highlighting the SRI Management commitment to giving back, inspiring each community to engage its employees to take part in the SRI Heart2Heart Acts of Kindness fund, with a new Compassion International partnership.

“This particular retreat was notable as we had the opportunity to celebrate all of our successes as a company, despite the challenges we’ve encountered, and we unpacked ways we could be better and do better through our programs like our Heart2Heart corporate giving fund” said Bishop.

SRI brought in special guest, comedian Mike Goodwin, to entertain and motivate attendees. A recent “America’s Got Talent” contestant, Goodwin has been making people laugh on the comedy circuit for many years. His session empowered attendees to recognize leadership lessons in unsuspecting places, equipping them with strategies to combat stress and anxiety while providing tactics to improve workplace productivity.

“I left Savannah both refreshed and inspired,” said Sharon Brown, executive director, The Canopy at Azalea Grove. “We are fortunate to have a corporate office quick to recognize the hard work of all our employees and willing to provide significant leadership, training and networking opportunities.”

Since its inception in 2000, SRI Management’s leadership has consistently sought to be in the forefront of changes in the industry and forging strong relationships with owners. Each SRI-managed property seeks to achieve optimal results in all areas of operations, including resident care, associate satisfaction and retention, and financial performance. SRI Management currently manages over 30 independent, assisted living and memory support communities, encompassing over 2,700 units.
