July 12, 2022

NORTH BETHESDA, MD—Tuckerman Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in North Bethesda has appointed Sherin Ronaghian, M.D., as its new medical director. The appointment comes at a time of positive momentum at the skilled nursing facility, where a multi-million dollar modernization and specialty programming enhancements are underway.

Located at 5550 Tuckerman Ln., Tuckerman Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care. The skilled nursing facility is part of a 140-bed continuing care retirement community (CCRC), which also includes The Terraces at Tuckerman Lane, an assisted living and secure memory care neighborhood.

Dr. Ronaghian’s appointment and the campus-wide upgrade follow a recent ownership change.

“It is an exciting time on the Tuckerman campus,” said Nikki Gachot, regional director of market development for Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the CCRC and is spearheading the modernization. “The clinical team is thrilled to welcome Dr. Ronaghian, who is highly regarded for her medical expertise and warm, caring manner.”

Dr. Ronaghian specializes in physiatry—commonly known as physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R)—which is among the new, specialized services being introduced at Tuckerman. The practice of physiatry blends pain treatments and physical therapy with the goal to help patients avoid surgery.

Under Dr. Ronaghian’s direction, this “whole body” approach at Tuckerman Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center will center on designing, coordinating and overseeing customized rehabilitation therapies for patients while managing their medical conditions, including co-morbidities. The program is tailored for individuals with a range of diagnoses and rehab needs.

“Tuckerman is a special facility,” said Dr. Ronaghian. “I am pleased to join the dedicated and talented team here in providing progressive skilled nursing services, aiming to ensure the best possible outcomes.”

Dr. Ronaghian also serves as the director of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Montgomery Medical and is affiliated with Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Medical’s Suburban Hospital and Montgomery Medical’s affiliate rehab facilities.

Based in Brick, NJ, Marquis Health Consulting Services is a highly skilled and vision-driven nursing home consulting company currently supporting Mid-Atlantic and New England facilities totaling approximately 6,000 skilled nursing and assisted living beds.
