Waltonwood Senior Living to Fund Senior Adventures with New Program
January 24, 2022
Premier senior living brand Waltonwood, run by family-owned company Singh, announces a company-sponsored program encouraging Waltonwood residents to pursue their life’s desire. “Adventure by Waltonwood” kicks off in January 2022 to provide residents with exceptional and elevated life experiences.
“We pride ourselves in building meaningful relationships with our residents at Waltonwood. Adventure by Waltonwood is another way we will elevate resident engagement by supporting their pursuit of an extraordinary experience,” says Lindsay Charlefour, director of life enrichment for Waltonwood Communities, who drew up ideas for the program from her past experiences in skilled nursing. “It isn’t uncommon to hear older adults state they do not have the ability or motivation to engage in interests they had years ago. We created this program to encourage residents to remain active members of their community with the philosophy that ‘It is possible to continue to do things that bring you joy and it would be our pleasure to make this happen!’ In my career, I’ve had the privilege of creating moments of uncontrollable laughter, happy tears and hearts so full they could burst. Those are the results when people you care for are living your best life and that’s our mission at Waltonwood.”
Each Waltonwood neighborhood (Independent, Assisted Living, and Memory Care of each community) will be given a funds each year to support multiple resident Adventures, which will be planned and completed throughout the calendar year by the community’s life enrichment managers and supported by each executive director. In addition to the fulfillment of residents’ desires, the program also encourages community partnerships and engagement with local organizations or groups that want to support Waltonwood residents’ ambitions. Recommendations for resident adventures may come from Waltonwood residents, families, associates or community partners.
“Industry executives across the nation are looking for different ways to enrich the lives of seniors in their care, and what better way to do so than directly support the dreams of our residents?” said Randy LeMaster, senior regional director of operation for Waltonwood Communities. “Our directors and life enrichment managers are raring to cheerlead and fulfill resident requests like throwing baseballs at minor league games and reuniting long-lost friends.”
Examples of possible Adventure by Waltonwood events could include riding in a hot air balloon, hiking a national park, meeting a great grandchild for the first time, riding in a Beemer, or reuniting with their best friend from college. Some requests have already begun rolling in for activities such as working a day at a floral shop and having artwork displayed in a local gallery or library.
