Charter Senior Living Celebrates 10 Years of Growth and Expansion

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Charter Senior Living is marking its 10th anniversary in 2026, a decade in which the company has grown to more than 70 senior living communities and expanded through new development, acquisitions and management relationships.
Founded in 2016, Naperville-based Charter owns, operates and manages communities offering independent living, assisted living and memory care. The company said it broke ground on its 15th ground-up development this year as it continues to expand its portfolio.
“This anniversary is about much more than 10 years in business,” said Keven J. Bennema, co-founder and CEO of Charter Senior Living. “It is about the residents who have entrusted us with their care, the families who have welcomed us into their lives and the associates who bring our mission to life every day. To grow from an idea 10 years ago to more than 70 communities today is something we are incredibly proud of, but what matters most is that we have stayed true to our people, our residents and our mission.”
Charter was founded around a senior living model emphasizing resident purpose, connection and person-centered care. As the company has grown, it has also developed programs including its Flourish Memory Care program and continued to invest in training and career development for employees.
The company’s expansion has included ground-up development as well as the expansion and repositioning of existing senior living communities.
Looking ahead, Charter says it expects demographic growth and changing consumer expectations to continue shaping both its development strategy and its approach to senior living operations.
