Acts Retirement-Life Communities Appoints Allmond New Board Chair

Susanallmond 0125FORT WASHINGTON, PA — Acts Retirement-Life Communities, a not-for-profit senior living organization, has announced the appointment of Susan B. Allmond as chair of its Board of Directors.

Allmond has been a dedicated member of the Acts Board since 2015, bringing nearly four decades of professional experience in healthcare to her Board service. Her career experience includes prior roles as a nurse specializing in orthopedics and rehabilitation, and as a leader in healthcare operations and strategic performance. Most recently, she served as director of strategic planning and alignment at Catholic Health Initiatives in Exton, Pennsylvania, before retiring.

“Susan Allmond’s vast experience and unwavering dedication to Acts’ mission make her the ideal leader to serve as Board chair,” said CEO Gerald T. Grant in a press release. “Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for our organization, and I am confident that her leadership will further advance our strong foundation of embracing future opportunities and challenges.”

Allmond succeeds John Esterhai Jr., MD, a member of the Acts Board since 1996 and the Board chair since 2017. Under Dr. Esterhai’s nearly three decades on the board, Acts has achieved significant growth; it is currently the third-largest nonprofit multisite senior living organization in the nation according to LeadingAge Ziegler 200. While stepping down as chair, Dr. Esterhai will remain a member of the Acts Board.

Acts Retirement-Life Communities is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) organizations. Headquartered in this city roughly 20 miles northeast of Philadelphia, Acts currently provides active retirement lifestyle housing, amenities, and services to approximately 10,500 seniors through its 28 senior living CCRCs in nine states.
