Chelsea Place Hosts In-House Market to Support Resident Independence
August 19, 2026
AURORA, Colo. — Chelsea Place, an Anthem Memory Care community, recently hosted an in-house market designed to give residents a familiar shopping experience while supporting independence and personal choice.
Residents browsed and “purchased” items in a grocery-store-style setting. Offerings included fresh fruit, personal care products, greeting cards, snacks and drinks. Children served as shopkeepers during the event.
“This market gave our residents the opportunity to make choices for themselves in a setting that feels familiar and engaging,” said Kelly Barbian, life engagement director for Chelsea Place. “It is an important way to support independence while creating a fun, purposeful experience.”
Chelsea Place is located in Aurora. Its parent company, Anthem Memory Care, develops and operates memory care communities for people with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The West Linn, Ore.-based company operates communities in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, New Mexico, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
