Dominion Senior Living To Transform Former Louisville Rehab Center Into Senior Living Community
November 16, 2017
LOUISVILLE, KY–Dominion Senior Living will soon begin construction on Dominion Senior Living at Northfield, a 42,000-square-foot, $5 million faith-based assisted living and memory care community. The senior living community will be located at 6000 Hunting Road in Louisville, and will strive to meet and exceed seniors’ spiritual, mental and physical needs on a daily basis through technological integration, life enrichment activities and professionally trained nurses and caregivers who are available 24 hours a day.
Dominion Senior Living purchased the former Glenview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and will renovate the inside of the one-story building to include 41 assisted living and 20 memory care apartments. The community will create around 50 new jobs and will be unlike any other senior living community in the Louisville area, featuring comfortable, warm interiors with all the feelings of home for residents to enjoy. Dominion Senior Living plans to start construction in December and open in the Fall of 2018.
“Our mission is to honor God through the service to seniors, and we felt a calling to open a senior living community in Louisville,” Mark Taylor, president of Dominion Senior Living. “This is the first time we aren’t starting from the ground up. We plan to renovate the current building and turn it into a peaceful community that seniors in the Louisville area can call home. Every detail of the community is carefully considered and designed with the help of experts to offer a safe, secure and peaceful environment. We not only build relationships with our residents and team members but seek to make each day meaningful and enriching. Our goal is to ensure that the residents have a true sense of purpose. Being able to offer these personalized, faith-based services is a privilege to us, and we look forward to opening the doors to Dominion Senior Living at Northfield next year.”
The community will focus on all aspects of wellness of the residents and team members. The therapy and wellness programs will be available for everyone to use, and team members are encouraged to participate in activities and eat together with the residents. Dominion Senior Living at Northfield will also include cutting-edge technology. By using a sophisticated electronic health record-keeping system and a specially designed nurse call system, team members will receive alerts on their mobile devices if a resident needs assistance. They will track daily activities electronically and access or update a resident’s medical records in real time by going into an app. Residents will have access to medication management, on-site physician services and medical services coordination, as well as many other caregiving services. The community will offer fantastic amenities including dining rooms, workout facilities, indoor and outdoor courtyards with picnic areas, games and gardens as well as a salon.
“We are thrilled to open a new senior living community to serve Louisville seniors and their families,” said Michael Holtzclaw, senior director of operations. “As we expand, we are carefully selecting locations with a need for our services, and that is what we saw in Louisville. We are very involved with each community and visit frequently to spend time with team members and residents. It is important for us to build strong relationships with the residents, their families and the public, too. We hope they are just as eager as we are to open Dominion Senior Living at Northfield.”
Dominion Senior Living currently has communities open or under construction in Athens, Bristol, Crossville, Johnson City, Hixson and Sevierville, Tenn.; Anderson and Clemson, S.C.; as well as Frankfort, Richmond and Florence, Ky.
