Goodwin Living Names Josh Bagley as Executive Director of The View Alexandria

March 8, 2023

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Last week, Goodwin Living, a not-for-profit, faith-based, senior living and health care services organization in the National Capital Region, announced that Josh Bagley has been named the executive director of The View Alexandria. Bagley has served as the interim executive director of The View Alexandria since Goodwin Living acquired the retirement community in August 2022. Located in the West End of Alexandria on a seven-acre campus, The View Alexandria is home to more than 100 residents, employs more than 100 team members and offers independent living, assisted living and long-term nursing care.

“It’s with great enthusiasm that we share that Josh Bagley has been selected as the executive director of The View Alexandria,” said Rob Liebreich, president and CEO of Goodwin Living. “For nearly a decade, Josh has exemplified our mission by dedicating his career to serving older adults and the field of senior living. Following a competitive process to select an executive director, Josh emerged as the best candidate to lead The View Alexandria forward.”

Bagley began his career with Goodwin Living in 2014 as an administrative assistant, after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in health, society and policy from the University of Utah and a Master of Health Administration from George Washington University. Most recently, Bagley served as the administrator of the Goodwin House Alexandria (GHA) “Small House” Health Care Center. Nearing $50 million in the making, the GHA Health Care Center was the first of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic region and has been hailed as an innovative concept for nursing care within retirement communities.

Bagley’s commitment to older adults reaches across Alexandria and the greater National Capital Region. He is a member of the Senior Services of Alexandria board of directors and an advisor to the Cherry Blossom PACE program that provides services to older adults living in their homes in Alexandria. Over the last two years, he has partnered with the Northern Virginia Community College to bring the advanced certified nursing assistant (CNA) program to Northern Virginia to help educate and prepare more CNAs for the field of senior living.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with amazing people and to spend my days making a difference for the lives of older adults and those who serve them,” said Bagley. “I also am excited to continue contributing my passion to the betterment of other older adults living in the city of Alexandria and beyond.”

Since joining The View Alexandria, Bagley has led the effort to invest more than one million dollars in renovations and enhancements to the campus—including a rooftop lounge and resident social room with expansive views of Washington, D.C., a new resident recreation room, health care center, art center and art gallery—as well as the addition of weekly art classes, a resident lecture series and community service projects including knitting for those without homes and packing disaster kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
