EDMONTON, ONTARIO–Revera, a leading owner, operator, developer and investor in the senior living sector welcomed 400 residents, their families, community members and special guests to celebrate the official Grand Opening of Edmonton’s newest retirement community, Revera’s McConachie Gardens last Thursday.
“This remarkable new residence is built on the core principles of choice, independence and innovation for seniors,” said Thomas G. Wellner, President and CEO of Revera. “For residents at McConachie Gardens, it’s about doing what you love and enjoying the benefits of being part of a vibrant, welcoming community.”
McConachie Gardens is a modern, 166-suite retirement residence featuring a wide range of state-of-the-art amenities designed to help seniors live life to the fullest. Bright and spacious independent supportive living, assisted living and memory care suites come in an array of layouts, including studio, one- and two-bedroom suites featuring in-suite climate control, private patios, large windows and high ceilings.
A range of unique dining options for residents include a restaurant-style Northern Lights dining room; The Hub, a licensed pub; the DASH café-style bistro; the Hangar private dining lounge; and even in-suite dining.
Amenities include a fitness centre and spa, a greenhouse, a healing garden and an outdoor putting green.
A pet-friendly environment, McConachie Gardens has an off-leash dog run and wash station, as well as pet care and dog walking services available.
Residents do not need to carry suite keys due to innovative wearable Revera Link™ technology that allows the wearer to instantly request assistance anytime, and from anywhere in the building.
McConachie Gardens is named for a key figure in Canadian aviation history, Grant McConachie, a Canadian bush pilot and businessman who grew up in Calder, Alberta and became CEO of Canadian Pacific Airlines.
“We are very proud of the aviation-themed elements and window designs,” added Wellner. “McConachie Gardens is a beautiful addition to our retirement living options in Edmonton.”
As part of Revera’s commitment to environmental responsibility, McConachie Gardens has been designed with sustainability in mind and a goal of achieving LEED Silver certification. Environmentally-friendly features include efficient LED lighting, electric car chargers, local water-efficient landscape species, motion-detected light sensors, large windows for natural light, and a green cleaning plan.
More than 200 construction and skilled labour workers helped to build McConachie Gardens over the past two years, and now that it’s open, McConachie Gardens is sustaining more than 70 local full and part time jobs to support its operation.
