Jefferson’s Ferry Names Two to Board of Directors

SOUTH SETAUKET, NY–Jefferson’s Ferry, a not-for-profit Life Plan Community, recently added two community leaders, Debra Engelhardt and Kim Kubasek, to its Board of Directors. Engelhardt is the Director of the Comsewogue Library in Port Jefferson Station, and Kubasek is an Associate Executive Director at Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI) in Smithtown.

“We are very pleased to welcome two outstanding members of the Three Village Community to serve on the Jefferson’s Ferry Board of Directors,” said Robert E. Caulfield, President and CEO of Jefferson’s Ferry. “Their professional experience and insights gained from daily interactions serving the larger community promise to be invaluable to Jefferson’s Ferry’s continuing efforts to serve our residents and the larger community.”

In addition to her leadership position at Comsewogue, Engelhardt currently serves on the Board of Mather Hospital. She chairs the Investment Committee and participates in the work of the Ethics & Compliance and Public Affairs committees. Engelhardt is also the President of Decision – Women in Commerce and the Professions, a Three Village area business group. An avid sailor, she is an officer on the Bridge of the Mt. Sinai Sailing Association. She lives in Wading River.

Kubasek, a resident of Stony Brook, has worked as an Executive Director at DDI since 2010, and before that was the Chief Operating Officer at United Cerebral Palsy Suffolk. She earned a Master of Business Administration and Graduate Program in Health Care from Bernard M. Baruch College-Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, NY. She is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives and New York Ambulatory Care Association.

Locally, Jefferson’s Ferry has consistently been voted Best Retirement Community and Best Assisted Living on Long Island by The Long Island Press.  Jefferson’s Ferry has also regularly been recognized for Excellence by the Hauppauge Industrial Association’s Business Achievement Awards program.
