Juniper Village at Spicewood Summit Earns Certificate of Excellence for Wound Management

September 23, 2022

AUSTIN, TX—Juniper Village at Spicewood Summit has been certified by Vohra Wound Physicians as a Center of Excellence for Wound Management. Only 10% of Vohra’s skilled nursing facility partners have qualified for this annual certification. Juniper Village places a top priority on healing and rehabilitating residents, and with its specialized wound management program, it can accept residents with chronic or complex wounds.

“It’s hard enough to treat and heal wounds in the elderly in a normal environment, but throw in a pandemic like COVID and it’s even more challenging. I’m so proud of the wellness team at Juniper Village at Spicewood Summit for achieving the Vohra Excellence for Wound Management award,” expressed Daniel Nixon, regional director of wellness for Juniper Communities.

Ann Rojo, LVN, wound care specialist for Juniper Village, spearheaded the certification process. “Partnering with Vohra Wound Physicians, we bring physician-led bedside wound care to our skilled nursing residents,” said Rojo. “This—coupled with our Connect4Life program that features on-site services such as therapy, pharmacy and primary care—leads to better outcomes and a quicker return to home for many.”

Juniper Communities’ Connect4Life program is overseen by a dedicated medical concierge who coordinates services on- and off-site, meaning families don’t need to worry about the details of their loved one’s care. Connect4Life also leads to better outcomes—an independent study confirmed that Juniper Village residents have lower re-hospitalization rates compared to residents of other senior living communities.

“Our partnership with Vohra has resulted in a wonderful level of healing for our residents. Their knowledge and expertise have been great at helping our clinical teams as well. We are very proud of Juniper Village at Spicewood Summit’s certification and their work to make the community a Center of Excellence for Wound Management,” said Casey Tiffany, regional director of operations for Texas.

Juniper Village at Spicewood Summit provides professional care and support for 94 assisted living residents, and it has 46 skilled nursing beds for short- and long-term rehabilitation and care. Located at 4401 Spicewood Springs Rd., the community is situated in the Northwest Hills section of Austin, among great parks and rolling hills, and it offers wonderful amenities to its residents.
