September 9, 2021

ELK GROVE, CA–Koelsch Communities, a family-owned and operated senior living company, is pleased to announce Irene Charnell as its executive director. Charnell brings more than 15 years of senior living experience to the community. She started as an active living director at a retirement community and has held a variety of positions within the industry including activity director, director of resident services, marketing director, and previously served as executive director of a community in California. As executive director at The Park at Laguna Springs, Charnell oversees daily operations of the community. Her goal is to meet and exceed company expectations and ensure the needs of each resident and individual in the community are met. The Park at Laguna Springs is a 175,000-square-foot independent living community with 129 apartment suites and a 21,800-square-foot community with 16 casitas. The community is expected to open this fall.

“I am excited to take on the role as executive director at The Park at Laguna Springs,” said Charnell. “I was attracted to Koelsch Communities because it’s a family-owned company. The communities are well known within the industry, and they have a stellar reputation for treating residents and team members with dignity and respect. Working in senior living is rewarding, and I am glad I stumbled upon this field. I love bonding with residents and learning their life stories. It is fascinating to hear where they have been and what they have accomplished in life. I look forward to opening our doors later this year.”

Joining the team as its new director of community relations is Terrie Peters. Peters brings nearly a decade’s worth of senior living experience to the role. She previously worked at an assisted living and memory care community in Elk Grove. She started as an activity director and worked her way up to sales director. In her new role, she will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with local businesses and networking with organizations for the community.

“The Park at Laguna Springs is a beautiful community, and I am honored to serve as the new director of community relations,” said Peters. “Last year was challenging because of the COVID pandemic, but we are eager to get out and start building local connections for The Park at Laguna Springs. We look forward to welcoming residents later this year and inviting diverse organizations to come in and be part of the community. I love working with seniors and cannot wait to meet all the residents of The Park at Laguna Springs.”

Koelsch Communities—third generation, family-owned and operated—boasts 35 communities in eight states, with six new communities for independent living, assisted living, and memory care, in development.
