September 8, 2020 — KWA Construction, a leading general contractor specializing in multifamily developments throughout Texas, has topped out on Phase II of Columbia Renaissance Square in Fort Worth, Texas, following a successful completion of Phase I. Developed by Columbia Residential, this latest phase will consist of 123 affordable senior living units for ages 62 and over. The community is designed to achieve certification by National Green Building Standard™ for improved energy efficiency, indoor air quality and lower utility costs.
“Our ongoing partnership with Columbia Residential continues in earnest with the topping out of Columbia Renaissance Square apartments, which represents an important milestone where we can celebrate our success together,” said Brian Webster, President of KWA Construction. “Our shared commitment to quality construction, sustainable materials and energy efficiency ensures we will create a safe, efficient and pleasant environment for senior residents.”
Designed by JHP Architecture, the 95,015-square-foot building will feature open floor plans that include soaring 9-foot ceilings, separate dining areas, full-size kitchens with a complete package of ENERGY STAR® appliances and 42-inch cabinets with an espresso finish. Residences will also feature designer-inspired features like vinyl plank flooring, ceramic tile in the bathrooms and carpeted bedrooms. In addition, bathrooms will include grab bars for added safety. On-site amenities for the senior living apartments will include a community room with a catering kitchen, computer center with Wi-Fi, fitness center, central laundry facility and theater for movie screenings. The community will feature paved, tree-lined pathways for bicycling or walking as well as a landscaped gazebo for enjoying the outdoors.
Columbia Renaissance Square has partnered with Purpose Built Communities, a non-profit consulting firm that works side-by-side with local leaders to plan and implement a holistic revitalization effort. Centered on an award-winning model tailored to the community’s needs and the dynamics of the neighborhood, the framework utilizes a mixed-income housing strategy and community wellness through a rich network of community and support services. The development strategy is designed to bridge the poverty gap by putting education centers, health care facilities and green spaces in close proximity to low-income residents.
Located at 2801 Moresby Street in Fort Worth, Columbia Renaissance Square Phase II is expected to be completed in December 2020.
