Pennsylvania Health Care Association Honors Northampton Post Acute’s Louis
October 24, 2024
EASTON, PA — Florise “Lulu” Louis, a licensed practical nurse at Northampton Post Acute in this city on the Pennsylvania/New Jersey border, has been honored by the Pennsylvania Health Care Association with a 2024 “Stories of Caring Award.”
“Lulu embodies all the qualities you would want in a nurse,” said Melissa King, administrator at Northampton Post Acute. “She is patient, kind, and compassionate, and the care that Lulu provides is second to none. Our congratulations to Lulu. We are so grateful to have her as part of our special team.”
Louis has been providing compassionate care for Northampton residents for two years and she is well known for her magnetic, joyful personality. Everyone is drawn to her, noted King, and she is always thinking about the residents, the NPA team, and the larger community. One recent example is how Louis, a Zumba instructor, volunteered to lead dance classes as stress-relieving fun for her colleagues and as a fundraiser for the American Heart Association.
“Coming to Northampton Post Acute each day is not work to me,” said Louis. “It’s caring for my family.”
PHCA’s Stories of Caring awards program, in collaboration with the Ceca Foundation, recognizes the work of dedicated caregivers in nursing homes, assisted living communities, and personal care centers across the state who go above and beyond their daily duties to care for residents and support colleagues. Award nominations are submitted by members of the PHCA, which selects the honorees.
Northampton Post Acute provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab, and long-term residential care. The 180-bed facility earned two prestigious Gold Seals of Approval for its quality care and services from The Joint Commission and it was named one of the nation’s top skilled nursing facilities in Newsweek’s “America’s Best Nursing Homes” for both 2024 and 2025.
