Philadelphia Skilled Nursing Facility Initiative Responds to Regional Demand

Roosevelt Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in northeast Philadelphia welcomes Dr. Alex Mepari as medical director for its Russian cultural program. Located at 7800 Bustleton Ave., the 240-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.
Dr. Mepari has been in practice for more than 20 years as an internist; his practice areas include Internal Medicine and Hospital Medicine. He is affiliated with Holy Redeemer Hospital.
Roosevelt’s Russian Program features a dedicated bilingual team, including Community Liaison Alec Braverstein, among other staff members. Residents enjoy authentic cuisine prepared in-house, special Russian cultural programming and recreational activities, and complimentary Kartina TV with 150 Russian channels, as well as Russian radio and Russian newspapers. The skilled nursing facility also has a guest services hotline for Russian-speaking residents.
Roosevelt created the Russian cultural initiative with Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “Roosevelt is thrilled to welcome Dr. Mepari as the medical director for the Russian Program; he is well-known in the Philadelphia region for his medical expertise and caring manner,” said Marquis’ Danielle Koons, regional director of market development.

The facility recently introduced onsite ear, nose and throat specialist (ENT) services as part of its Respiratory Therapy programming, which is integral in all levels of care for residents, including higher-acuity respiratory patients. Other introductions over the past 18 months include a popular Cardio Pulmonary Care Program.
