SALMON Health and Retirement Launches “Generations of a Nation” for America’s 250th

April 14, 2026

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. — SALMON Health and Retirement is launching “Generations of a Nation,” a yearlong initiative tied to America’s 250th anniversary that will focus on storytelling, volunteering and intergenerational connection across its communities.

The company said the initiative will involve residents, patients, staff, families and local partners through three main areas: storytelling, volunteer efforts and programs that connect older adults with children, students, families and younger staff members.

“America’s 250th is a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, who helped shape us and how we carry those stories forward,” said Matt Salmon, CEO of SALMON Health and Retirement. “At SALMON, we are privileged to care for people whose lives span generations of history, resilience and change. Generations of a Nation is our way of honoring those voices while creating new moments of purpose and connection across every campus.”

Planned activities include resident storytelling projects that capture memories and life experiences through written profiles, videos and special features; volunteer initiatives centered on service and community impact; and intergenerational programs built around shared experiences and conversations.

SALMON said each campus will shape the initiative according to its own residents, strengths and community partnerships. Activities may include arts and music programs, mentorship, service projects and storytelling efforts.

“For us, this is more than a campaign,” said Erik Paulitsky, executive director at The Willows at Westborough. “Every day, our residents share moments and memories that deserve to be heard far beyond these walls. Generations of a Nation gives us a real framework to capture those stories, bring new people in and show what it looks like when a community truly shows up for one another.”

Founded in 1952, SALMON Health and Retirement is a family-owned organization offering senior living and health care services across Massachusetts, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, home health, hospice and private care.
