September 24, 2024

Dulcedangis 0924NAPERVILLE, IL — Dulce Dangis, the director of nursing at The Springs at Monarch Landing since 2018, has been named Director of Nursing of the Year by the Long-Term Care Nurses Association according to a press release. The LTCNA, in association with the Illinois Health Care Association, supports more than 450 licensed long-term care centers and programs in Illinois.

“She has led her team in elevating the expectations for skilled nursing,” said Elizabeth Vanderwal, administrator for The Springs.

Dangis moved to the U.S. in 2006 from the Philippines, where she was working as a barrister after having completed nursing school. Her first job in the U.S. was as a floor nurse for a long-term care provider, and she moved through the ranks to director of nursing.

Under Dangis’ leadership, The Springs has earned consistent five-star ratings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She is also credited with supporting high staff morale, retaining the nursing leadership team, and decreasing the amount of agency support required to maintain staffing numbers.

“There’s a wonderful culture that Dulce has been a major force in creating at The Springs,” said Vanderwal. “As a result, the quality of our residents’ outcomes is great; there’s exceptional care, a low rate of rehospitalizations, and extremely high-quality measures. Our many positive online reviews reflect Dulce’s dedication and commitment.”

“The team at Monarch Landing and The Springs at Monarch Landing is proud of Dulce’s unwavering dedication, compassionate care and relentless hard work,” Vanderwal concluded.
