Tutera Senior Living & Health Care Earns Six 2020 Quality Awards from the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living

November 3, 2020

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —Tutera Senior Living & Health Care is proud to announce six of its communities across the country have earned prestigious Quality Awards from the American Health Care Association (AHCA)/National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL), the leading association for long term and post-acute care providers. The annual award honors association members across the nation that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality of care for seniors and persons with disabilities.

With 70 facilities, communities and agencies in nine states throughout the United States, Tutera is one of the nation’s premier providers of diversified, post-acute senior health care services. The following six Tutera communities earned the 2020 Silver Achievement in Quality or Bronze Commitment to Quality Award:

Monterey Park Rehabilitation & Health Care Center (Independence, Missouri) earned the SILVER AWARD. Monterey Park was the only 2020 Silver Quality Award winner in Missouri.

Northland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center (North Kansas City, Missouri) earned the BRONZE AWARD. Northland Rehabilitation was one of only 21 recipients in Missouri of the 2020 Bronze Quality Award.

Country Gardens Assisted Living (Muskogee, Oklahoma) earned the SILVER AWARD. Country Gardens was the only 2020 Silver Quality Award winner in Oklahoma.

Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation & Health Care Center (McLeansboro, Illinois) earned the SILVER AWARD. Hamilton Memorial was one of two 2020 Silver Quality Award winners in Illinois.

Bethany Rehabilitation & Health Care Center (DeKalb, Illinois) and Carlinville Rehabilitation & Health Care Center (Carlinville, Illinois) both earned the BRONZE AWARD. Bethany Rehabilitation and Carlinville Rehabilitation were two of only 32 recipients in Illinois of the 2020 Bronze Quality Award.

“We are proud to see these communities recognized for their unwavering commitment to residents,” said Joe Tutera, chief executive officer of Tutera Senior Living & Health Care. “I commend the staff at these two communities on their hard work and dedication to our valued residents.”

The Bronze Commitment to Quality Award and the Silver Achievement in Quality Award are two of three progressive award levels through the National Quality Award Program, which AHCA/NCAL established in 1996. It is based on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which is also the foundation of the metric-based AHCA/NCAL Quality Initiative. The Baldrige program helps organizations in different business sectors improve and achieve performance excellence.

“It’s rewarding to be recognized with a prestigious quality award that underscores the standards that guide what we do every day,” said Randy Bloom, Ph.D., chief operating officer of Tutera Senior Living & Health Care. “Our ongoing YOUNITE initiative is designed to ensure we are continuously asking, listening and responding in ways that are personally meaningful to residents, family members and staff in all our communities across the nation.”

Bronze applicants must demonstrate their ability to implement a performance improvement system. Silver applicants must have previously received the Bronze Commitment to Quality Award. Silver award winners demonstrate effective approaches that help improve performance and health care outcomes. Trained examiners thoroughly review each application to determine if the center has met the demands of the criteria.

The 2020 awards were presented during AHCA/NCAL’s virtual 71st National Quality Award Ceremony on October 22, 2020.
