Virginia Beach Senior Living Community Set To Open Memory Care Neighborhood

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA—First Colonial Inn, a Kisco Senior Living community in Virginia Beach, is announcing its expansion ready for occupancy on March 15th: an all-new memory care neighborhood. This space will include 18 thoughtfully designed apartments, 10 private rooms and four shared ones; a private patio and curated garden—all of which are exclusive to the community’s memory care residents and their loved ones.
The purpose behind First Colonial Inn’s newest addition is to promote the independence and dignity of their guests who need more specialized attention, as well as to maintain their sense of comfort and security. It’s common for residents to experience a change in care while making their home at a senior living community—and with this new addition to the community, First Colonial Inn will be more equipped than ever to meet residents’ needs.
Susan Ward, regional vice president of operations for Kisco Senior Living, shared that providing memory care services at First Colonial Inn will offer Virginia Beach seniors cognitive care services that also maintain the feel and comfort of home. “Prior to providing this level of care, our residents would have needed to consider transitioning to another community when faced with cognitive decline,” said Ward. “Now, we will be able to offer a full continuum of care that will serve residents and their families for years to come.”
Oftentimes, the independent living portion of a continuing care retirement community is different from the health care services side, including changes in interior design, amenities and feel of the space. However, at First Colonial Inn, all residents can experience the same sophisticated design with a seamless transition between levels of care. In this new neighborhood, residents will continue to enjoy inspiring artwork, cozy community areas, chef-prepared meals and serene courtyards.

The Kisco Senior Living development team, LS3P Architecture and Clancy and Theys Construction Company collaborated on the expansion to make certain all of the amenities and features vital for memory care residents will be ready for internal transfers to begin on March 15th. First Colonial Inn will celebrate the neighborhood’s grand opening on March 9th.
