Waltonwood Lakeside Completes Million-Dollar Renovation Project

March 5, 2019

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI–Waltonwood Lakeside, an independent living, licensed assisted living and memory care community near Detroit, is pleased to announce it recently completed an eight-month, million-dollar renovation project. The senior living community at 14750 Lakeside Circle underwent a full interior overhaul with all new finishes, furniture, draperies, accessories and artwork throughout, as well as a remodeled and upgraded café, new signage and environmentally friendly LED light fixtures. In all, more than 60,000 square feet was renovated.

“As we build new senior living communities across the country, we are taking what we learn from those projects and updating our current portfolio,” said Kathryn Pytiak, project design manager for Singh Development. “Waltonwood Lakeside was built in 2007, so we wanted to bring current trends into the community to make it more esthetically pleasing and comfortable, enhancing the warm and inviting place residents call home.

“While we did do enhancements outside, the interior was the main focus of this renovation project,” Pytiak explained. “We gave residents new wallcoverings, carpet, paint, tile, cabinets, countertops, furniture, and a remodeled café that is now the focal point of the community. Our culinary team also added new fast-casual dining for residents to enjoy. We incorporated a lot of local flair into the community with themed artwork and a color scheme that is a nod to the immediate area. It really makes everyone at the community feel at home, and that was our goal.”

The community recently hosted a grand reopening that featured Michigan-themed foods and drinks, as well as dueling pianos, a harpist and singer as entertainment. Guests toured the remodeled community which offers a new transitional look that combines elements of its former more traditional design with a contemporary twist. The community features blues and browns in its color scheme, inspired by the lake located just outside the community.

“The interior was beautiful before, but now we have a more up-to-date community for residents to enjoy. We are dedicated to redefining senior living and providing residents with the best care and amenities,” said Greg Cossaboom, executive director at Waltonwood Lakeside. “As with everything we do, our goal is to serve senior adults with excellence. The changes at the community will make a difference in the lives of the residents. We are here for them, and completing this project gives them an updated place to live. As a Michigan native, seeing the local tributes is outstanding. I know it truly makes the residents feel more at home.”

Waltonwood Lakeside is conveniently located near great shopping, restaurants and health care, and provides the full continuum of care that allows residents to age in place within the community. Services and amenities include chef-prepared meals, licensed nurses on staff 24 hours a day and a state-of-the-art fitness center complete with a pool.
