Watermark Retirement Communities Names Slichta COO

TUCSON, AZ — Watermark Retirement Communities has announced in a press release that Jeff Slichta will join the company as chief operating officer on Monday, January 13, 2025. He will succeed Karen Mlawsky, who is stepping down to pursue new interests after five years with Watermark.
“Karen led us through the most challenging years in the history of our company and the senior housing industry in general,” stated President/CEO David Barnes. “Her hospital system background was invaluable during this period. I have nothing but respect and appreciation for Karen.”
Slichta’s career in senior living operations spans 20 years; most recently, he served as COO for Experience Senior Living. He’s also served as senior vice president of operations for Sunrise Senior Living, as a principal consultant for Slichta Enterprises, and as COO for both Era Living LLC and Oakdale Heights Management Corporation.
