Baptist Senior Services, a non-profit committed to uplifting the lives of seniors in Pittsburgh’s South Hills for over 110 years, today announced its rebrand to Baptist Senior Family. The announcement comes as the organization is set to welcome a new President & CEO, Timothy L. Myers, on January 1, 2022.
Founded in 1910, the non-profit began as a cooperative effort of 90 American Baptist churches throughout Western Pennsylvania. For the first 40 years of its history, the organization served orphans and the elderly – and eventually, grew its services in healthcare and senior living to adapt to the changing needs of the community. Notably, in 1979, the organization became the first senior community to offer HUD-financed housing in Pittsburgh’s South Hills.
Over the course of several decades, the organization added a full range of offerings and vibrant living locations to serve seniors: Baptist Homes, Baptist Homes Foundation, Baptist Management Services, Baptist Manor, Providence at Home, Providence Home Care and Providence Point. With the rebrand, Baptist Senior Family becomes the newly named parent company; the names of its senior living communities and additional services will remain unchanged. Its 900 seniors and 600 staff members will not be affected by the rebrand.
New Leadership, New Chapter
Alvin Allison, Jr., who has been with the organization for 14 years, serving as President & CEO of Baptist Senior Services for 11 of those years, plans to retire at the end of 2021 – and says that the new brand better portrays the organization’s mission of providing the highest quality of living for all of those it serves, while uplifting one person at a time.
“We are more than a senior living community; our services encompass a suite of offerings to help seniors in our region live a more uplifted life,” said Allison. “Our new brand represents a very conscious shift to let the community know that we embody one family – and we’re proud to celebrate this milestone with our residents, community members and employees.”
Allison added the organization will benefit from the leadership of incoming President & CEO Timothy Myers as it begins its new chapter. Myers comes to the organization after most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer at Ingleside, the parent corporation of six senior services entities in the Washington, DC area.
“I’m thrilled that Tim is entering this role at such an exciting time of growth and change. His impressive experience and passion for serving seniors will ensure long-term success of our new brand, and I know our family is being left in excellent, capable hands,” said Allison.
The New Look
Along with its new name, Baptist Senior Family carries a new tagline of “Life. Uplifted.” The new tagline draws upon the organization’s mission of helping everyone it serves experience an uplifted life.
The new brand also comes with a new logo and colors. The logo portrays life, connection, growth, and joy. The plantlike figures are connected in their growth with petals outstretching lifting each other up. The text is clean and easy to read, using green to again represent life and growth. The pops of orange in the logo invoke feelings of warmth, friendliness, hope, light, and joy. The color blue represents stability, trust, and tranquility.
