Belmont Village Senior Living’s First Florida Community ‘Tops Out’
March 26, 2019
HOUSTON–Belmont Village Senior Living reached a construction milestone with the “topping out” of its first community in Florida located at 1031 Seminole Drive in Fort Lauderdale. General Contractor Stiles Construction completed the concrete high-rise structure with the final roof placement. At peak, there have been around 250 workers on this key phase. The topping-out, which marks the mid-way point of a construction project, was celebrated on Thursday, March 14, with an on-site event for subcontractors and special guests.
“We’re so pleased to be joining the wonderful Fort Lauderdale community,” said Patricia Will, Belmont Village founder and CEO “We spent a lot of time looking for the perfect site for our first entry into South Florida, and we found it. We’re very pleased also to be working with Stiles through this development process. Their expertise in the area and commitment to quality construction have been terrific assets.”
Designed by Huitt-Zollars, the 12-story building is approximately 212,000 square-feet and located in the premier dining, shopping, and entertainment area of Fort Lauderdale. Construction began in May 2018 and is scheduled to be completed this fall. The structure is built to high standards for life safety with cast-in-place post tension on pile caps and auger cast piles.
The first four levels of the building contain a parking garage with approximately 210 spaces. The following eight stories will house 204 private apartments for Independent Living, Assisted Living and award-winning Memory Care. Expansive common areas and amenities will include a great room, library and town hall for meetings and lectures.
The Josephine’s Kitchen dining area will serve three restaurant-style meals a day with 24+ daily menu choices, while a Bistro will offer casual dining options and snacks. Other amenities will include a professionally managed fitness center with wellness programs and therapy services, a salt-water pool and a full-service salon.
Residents will enjoy complimentary scheduled transportation daily for appointments and outings, concierge services and a full daily calendar of activities. The fee structure is month-to-month, with no buy-in or long-term contract required.
The project will be Belmont Village’s 31st community with 29 currently operating across seven states and Mexico City, and one under construction in Chicago. Each Belmont Village is built to purpose and licensed throughout the building to provide a blended model of care that offers flexibility for residents if care needs change and allows couples with varying health or cognitive needs to continue to stay together
“Everything we do has an underlying therapeutic goal, which is to support our residents’ health and wellness so that they can continue to enjoy engaging, purposeful lives,” said Will. “How we build and license our communities, the research that goes into our programs, how we staff and train—it’s all part of the same goal and we give thought to every detail.”
