Cusson of Goddard and Hall Senior Living to Retire

February 26, 2026

Joan E. Cusson, executive director of Goddard/Homestead, has announced her retirement after an impactful career dedicated to advancing senior care and post-acute services, according to a press release from Goddard and Hall Senior Living.

According to Goddard and Hall, Cusson’s decades of leadership, innovation and compassion have left a lasting mark on the organizations and communities she has served.

In 2012, Cusson was named the executive director of Goddard/Homestead, where her
leadership transformed the organization from an outdated senior living model
into a vibrant, modern community designed to meet the evolving needs of older adults.
Under her direction, the community expanded its continuum of care while strengthening
its culture of dignity, engagement and innovation.

Prior to Goddard/Homestead, Cusson was employed at Holy Trinity Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center. There she advanced from director of marketing and admissions
to director of philanthropy and director of business development, helping to develop
Holy Trinity Hospice and The Hospice Residence at the Washburn House.

Earlier in her career, she held clinical and leadership roles at NovaCare, Inc., and later
she supported post-acute providers through marketing and operations work at the
Polaris Group.

Cusson’s impact at Goddard and Hall includes her mentorship of Paul Sullivan, who has
served as program director of Homestead Hall since 2018. Sullivan will assume the role of
executive director of Goddard and Hall Senior Living.

“Joan’s legacy is one of transformation, compassion, and excellence,” said Kristine
Binette, vice president of senior living operations. “We are deeply grateful for her
years of service and wish her the very best in her well-earned retirement.”

Cusson says she looks forward to spending more time with family, pursuing personal interests and remaining connected to the senior care community in new ways.
