BASKING RIDGE, NJ — FellowshipLIFE Foundation recently hosted its 14th annual gala at the Heldrich Hotel in New Brunswick, New Jersey. According to a press release, the proceeds raised during the event go toward the Fellowship Foundation Life Enrichment Fund, which supports all FellowshipLIFE communities in ensuring that residents experience top-quality programs, services, and facilities.

“Serving residents is the core focus of FellowshipLIFE,” said FellowshipLIFE Foundation Executive Director Lisa Marie Arieno. “Through the FellowshipLIFE Foundation, we support this mission by helping ensure every resident has access to the life enrichment, health, and medical services that will allow them to live healthy and worry-free lives.”

This event was the first Gala to highlight all five premier FellowshipLIFE communities as the organization recently welcomed Applewood Village in Freehold.

During the gala, FellowshipLIFE honored five standout residents — one from each FellowshipLIFE community — as Resident of the Year. Each of the following honorees was selected for being a shining ambassador of his or her community and for representing FellowshipLIFE’s mission to transform the aging experience.

Frank Stallone, Riverwalk Village in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Stallone is known as the community’s musical maestro and “Riverwalk DJ” who can be found playing music from all eras while socializing with friends.

Jay Katz, Pines Village in Whiting, New Jersey, who is noted for inspiring fellow residents and staff members to become involved.

FellowshipLIFE Foundation Honoree Richard Young with Friends Village Executive Director Kelli Mills

Richard “Dick” Young, Friends Village in Woodstown, New Jersey. Young leads and participates in various community activities, and even helped establish new programs like the Bocce Ball League.

David Badertscher, Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He serves on various committees and boards, while also continuing to write a blog read globally.

Beverly Stern, posthumous honoree, Applewood Village. Affectionately known as “Nurse Bev,” Stern was a leading example of the power of compassionate care.

“The gala honors incredible community members who inspire us all to realize that we can live active, engaging, and meaningful lives at any age, before and after retirement,” Arieno added. “It is an honor to have each of these individuals living in community with us across FellowshipLIFE.”
