Markley Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center Launches Cardiac Rehab Program

August 16, 2022

NORRISTOWN, PA—Markley Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Norristown has introduced a cardiac rehabilitation program under the medical direction of Mohamad Taha, M.D. This specialty care addition is part of an ongoing initiative to expand care options at the 121-bed skilled nursing facility.

Dr. Taha, who is affiliated with Suburban Medical Group and Suburban Surgical Specialists, is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Under Dr. Taha’s direction, Markley’s cardiac rehabilitation program focuses on promoting independence and quality of life through reducing symptoms and decreasing disability in heart patients. It is designed to assist individuals suffering from challenging or life-threatening heart conditions, including those recovering from a cardiac event or surgical procedure, and those at risk for cardiovascular disease.

Markley developed its new offerings with the support of Marquis Health Consulting Services. “Markley is focused on providing progressive skilled nursing services that meet healthcare needs in the communities of greater Montgomery County,” said Marquis’ Danielle Koons, regional director of market development. “Dr. Taha, who is highly respected for his expertise in cardiology, is working closely with Markley’s talented multidisciplinary team to enable the best possible outcome of each cardiac patient. The facility is pleased to have him lead its new cardiac initiative.”

Markley, which maintains a four-star rating for quality measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is in the midst of a $3.5 million repositioning following a rebranding last year. The enhancements include a focus on programming; in addition to cardiac rehabilitation, over the past year, the facility has introduced short-term care specialties, including subacute rehab and a post-surgical orthopedic transitions program. Furthermore, an in-progress renovation is touching every part of the three-story building, creating a modern, home-like environment for residents and enhancing the facility’s capabilities to provide top-level therapy and programming options.

Located at 550 E. Fornance St., Markley provides short-term rehab, long-term care and post-hospital care. Committed to serving as a healthcare resource for area residents, Markley has established a resource library of physician-curated content, addressing many topics of interest, including cardiac rehab, for families of patients and the larger community.
