ON THE MOVE: Recent Personnel Moves in Senior Living

Juniper Communities, an owner-operator of senior living communities, has announce in a press release the addition of Andrew Katzmann to its’ home office leadership team. He will be working closely with Juniper’s financial team, focusing on investment strategy while also contributing to the company’s analytics efforts. Katzmann brings with him over a decade of senior housing experience, on both the capital and operations sides of the business. Having grown up with Juniper’s founder and CEO, Lynne Katzmann, he has extensive knowledge of Juniper’s operating model and culture. Prior to joining Juniper, Katzmann was a vice president at Columbia Pacific Advisors in the Real Estate Strategies division; he also held a position at LTC Properties, a real estate investment trust focused on senior housing investments.
The Preserve of Roseville, a senior living community providing independent living, assisted living, and memory care in Roseville, Minnesota, has announced in a press release that Kristel Lastine, L.N.H.A., LALD, has been named executive director. Most recently, Lastine was executive director at Great Lakes Management/Hayden Grove in St. Anthony, Minnesota. In addition, she held executive leadership positions at Transforming Age/Heathers Manor and Benedictine Health System.
The Abbey at Westminster Plaza has announced Maria Alvarado as its new executive director. With a background in senior care and media relations, she brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Alvarado previously served as The Abbey’s marketing director. Her extensive experience includes work in independent living, assisted living, memory care, long-term care, and skilled nursing facilities. Additionally, she spent over 20 years in print and digital marketing and advertising at Hearst’s Houston Chronicle. She also served as a planning commissioner for the City of Stafford, Texas, from 1995 to 2005. She has also held leadership roles on various nonprofit boards, including Hispanic associations.
According to a post on President/CEO Jo Ellen Bleavins’ LinkedIn page, Diane Simpson has joined Silver Birch Living as director of reimbursement & treasury. Simpson began her career in supportive living 20 years ago as a business office manager. She has had different roles at the community level, including executive director for 15 years. Prior to coming to Silver Birch, Simpson was a financial controller for a commercial excavating company.
