Tutera Senior Living’s Commitment to Team Members and Residents Shows Through Continuing Education Program
November 3, 2022
KANSAS CITY, MO—Tutera Senior Living & Health Care, a Kansas City-based senior health care provider, recently held an open house to showcase their premier education and skills lab, Tutera University. Tutera University offers on-demand continuing education units available to team members in the states of Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Alabama, South Carolina, Louisiana and Texas at no cost, and they can be taken online or in person in Kansas City.
“We are fortunate to employ some of the best health care professionals in our communities, each with their own talents, skills and experience,” said Dr. Tony Burgess, chief medical officer. “For our team members, Tutera University is a forum where they can learn new skills, brush up on old ones and further empower themselves to be the best health care professionals they can be.”
The program covers a range of licensures and audiences, including continuing education credits to administrators, nurses, nurse practitioners, social workers and therapists, as well as continuing medical education for physicians. The curriculum of Tutera University includes leadership and professional development, strategic planning, emerging clinical information, research, innovative ideas and solutions to problems, best practices in clinical and operational direction, and updates on approaches to regulatory compliance. Courses are taught by Tutera corporate staff, guest speakers, various experts in the industry and care partners from DaVita, Residential Home Health, EmpowerMe Wellness and Alteas Health.
“Tutera University was started in 2020 so team members in the Kansas City area could receive consistent orientation and training,” said Burgess. “Now, we have expanded this program to multiple states—including 50 additional Tutera senior living communities—and are averaging 15 to 20 new team members a week who are taking advantage of this program.”
Tutera University provides more than continuing education courses. It also gives team members the confidence and competence to make critical decisions and create positive interactions with residents every day.
