Anthem Memory Care Residents to Spread Smiles to Unsuspecting Coffee Lovers for Valentine’s Day
By Jim Nelson | February 6, 2024
Make mine a medium decaf vanilla latte. Extra hot. Coconut or almond milk, please.
Just between us, I feel a little ridiculous ordering my favorite coffee drink. And because I have a medium decaf vanilla latte, extra hot, with coconut or almond milk a couple of times a week, I feel ridiculous a little too frequently, perhaps.
Maybe not as ridiculous as that scene in the 1991 Steve Martin/Sarah Jessica Parker, et al. movie L.A. Story, where Martin orders a half double decaffeinated half-calf, with a twist of lemon, or the me-toos who also order theirs with a twist of lemon. (A twist of lemon? Really? In their coffee?)
Anyway, where we? Oh yeah. Coffee.
And Valentine’s Day.
See what I did there? That’s how you segue from a twist of lemon to Valentine’s Day in a dozen words or less.
On February 13th and 14th, coffee lovers in West Chester, Ohio, 23 miles northeast of Cincinnati, will get an extra perk at Biggby Coffee West Chester. That day, as soon as their caffeine kicks in, they’ll notice that their takeaway cups have been hand decorated by residents at Liberty Place, a nearby Anthem Memory Care community.
Based in West Linn, Oregon, Anthem operates and develops memory care communities for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee, and Washington.
The Liberty Place residents decorated more than 100 coffee cup sleeves with affirmations of love, and on February 13th they’ll help hand them out to the Biggby patrons who order a cup o’ joe. And have no fear, the Valentine’s Day-themed sleeves will also be available on Valentine’s Day.
“Our residents were inspired by random acts of kindness week and wanted to put a smile on people’s faces,” said Amy Snow, Liberty Place’s life engagement director. “They are thrilled that they will catch folks off guard with this totally unexpected Valentine’s Day surprise.”
