January 17, 2023

MOORESTOWN, NJ—Cambridge Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center  has appointed Michael Gallagher, D.O., as director of its newly introduced neuro recovery program. Located at 255 East Main St. in Moorestown, the 200-bed skilled nursing facility provides post-hospital care, short-term rehab and long-term residential care.

Board-certified in neurology and clinical neurophysiology, Gallagher is affiliated with Cooper University Health Care’s divisions of neurology and physical medicine and rehabilitation. He also serves as an assistant professor of neurology at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

Cambridge’s neuro recovery program is designed to assist the facility’s long-term and sub-acute populations, specifically those affected by neurologically-disabling conditions, in improving abilities and returning to their most-optimal functional levels. The specialized initiative focuses on balance, speech, memory and pain management, as well as swallowing and proper nutrition. Patients receive an individualized recovery plan to address their needs, including a return to routine daily functions, such as sitting, walking, dressing and showering.

“Cambridge’s collaboration with Dr. Gallagher, one of the area’s leading neurology and physical medical rehabilitation professionals, helps those recovering from neurological events, including strokes, live better lives,” said Kate Bauer, regional director of market development at Marquis Health Consulting Services, which supports the facility. “Cambridge is fortunate to have him in this leadership role.”

In addition to consults with Gallagher, neuro recovery program participants benefit from the care of Cambridge’s interdisciplinary team, which includes specialized rehab nurses; physical, speech and occupational therapists; a care navigator; nutritional counselor and recreation specialist.

“I am pleased to work with Cambridge’s talented team in supporting recovery milestones for sub-acute patients and long-term residents,” said Gallagher. “This facility is deeply committed to progressive, quality care.”

Cambridge Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is in the midst of a multimillion-dollar renovation and programming enhancement initiative. The skilled nursing facility shares a 14-acre campus with Cambridge Enhanced Senior Living, an assisted living community featuring a memory care program. The campus sits in the heart of picturesque downtown Moorestown, 12 miles east of Philadelphia.
