Highgate Senior Living & Eversound Partner to Solve Hearing Loss at Senior Living Communities

BOSTON–Eversound, the provider of hearing technology and resident engagement solutions for senior living communities, has announced its partnership with Highgate Senior Living, which operates leading independent living and assisted living communities with memory care based in Issaquah, WA.

Eversound designs and develops proprietary audio technologies which help everyone hear clearly during movies, presentations and other group activities. Their patented wireless headphone system is specifically tuned to the needs of seniors and provides an enhanced listening experience compared to conventional hearing aids.

As part of the partnership, Highgate Senior Living will be rolling out Eversound to all nine of its communities.

“To continue to be an industry-leading organization, we recognized a need to explore new ways to help assist our residents in being able to increase engagement in our programs,” said Angie Larrabee, life enhancement programming manager, of Highgate Senior Living. “We have many residents with a wide range of hearing challenges, and we knew if they were able to hear what was being said, they would be more involved. Once we saw how simple Eversound was and the impact it would have, we were sold and had to have it. We are excited about providing Eversound to enhance our residents’ lives.”

Many activities professionals spend hours planning and preparing entertaining programs, only to be discouraged by the number of residents who fail to show up or are disengaged at events. In many cases, the problem is simply that residents struggle to hear clearly due to natural, age-related hearing loss. Eversound, which is designed specifically for older adults, improves hearing clarity by providing direct audio to users’ ears. Communities are reporting significant improvements in participation, engagement, well-being, and quality of life. Now Eversound is rolling out nationwide, thanks in large part to a partnership with Highgate Senior Living.

“While hearing aids can be helpful, they’re often overly expensive, easy to lose and challenging to operate for users who lack manual dexterity,” said Jake Reisch, CEO and co-founder of Eversound. “We believe that beautiful, easy-to-use audio products can be the answer, and our team is excited to deliver high fidelity sound to large audience members for less than the cost of one premium hearing aid.”

“We are very excited to participate in this partnership with Highgate Senior Living. The dramatic difference of giving the gift of hearing is incredible for both the staff and residents,” Matt Reiners, VP of customer impact and co-founder of Eversound, added.

“The results are automatic, and as a result the morale of both the staff and residents is significantly impacted. Hearing loss is a natural part of the aging process, but when it is left unaddressed, it has been linked to mental decline, social isolation and depression. With the 65+ population nearly doubling by 2050, we are excited to support one of the leading senior living organizations in addressing such a critical need.” Reiners said.
