Sage Launches Labor Staffing Platform for Senior Living Operators

NEW YORK — Sage has launched Labor, a workforce analytics platform designed to help senior living and skilled nursing operators align staffing levels with resident acuity and labor budgets.
According to the company, Labor uses care workflow data from Sage’s platform to identify when resident needs exceed current staffing levels. It also compares targeted and actual labor hours and analyzes how workloads are distributed among caregivers.
The platform provides staffing recommendations based on an operator’s budget targets and allows community leaders to adjust staffing before labor costs exceed those targets. Sage said the workload data can also help operators identify overburdened caregivers and redistribute responsibilities.
Sage developed the platform through work with Sonida Senior Living, which was seeking to manage labor costs while maintaining resident care. According to the companies, Sonida reduced costs by $110 per resident per month while providing additional support to care teams.
“Labor budget was the number everyone watched, but it was never really about the number, it was about whether our teams had what they needed to give residents the care they deserve,” said Tabitha Obenour, chief clinical officer of Sonida Senior Living.
The results of the Sonida project became the basis for Labor, which is now available to communities served by Sage.
“Solving the senior living staffing crisis requires aligning your workforce with actual resident acuity,” said Ellen Johnston, co-founder and chief product officer of Sage. “Labor gives senior living leaders the visibility to match the right resources to the right resident at the exact moment they are required.”
Labor follows Sage’s recent launch of Tasking, a platform that combines planned and unplanned resident care assignments into one workflow. Sage provides care technology for senior living and skilled nursing operators.
