NEWTON, MA–Senior Housing Properties Trust (Nasdaq:SNH) announced that Jennifer B. Clark has been appointed as a managing trustee of SNH effective immediately to fill a vacancy on the board.

Clark, 56, will continue to serve as SNH’s secretary and as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of The RMR Group Inc. (Nasdaq: RMR) and The RMR Group LLC. Clark also serves on the boards of The RMR Group Inc., Sonesta International Hotels Corporation, an RMR managed company, and RMR Advisors LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of RMR. Prior to joining The RMR Group in 1999, Clark was a partner at the law firm of Sullivan & Worcester LLP where she had a broad based real estate and finance practice.

SNH also announced today that Jennifer F. Francis, 53, has been appointed president and COO, effective May 1, 2018. She succeeds David J. Hegarty, who is stepping down from his positions with both SNH and RMR effective April 30, 2018. To ensure a smooth transition, Hegarty will remain an employee of RMR until his retirement on September 30, 2018, and his retirement agreement with RMR provides that he will be available to assist both SNH and RMR on an as needed basis thereafter. Hegarty has been with SNH since its founding in 1999, and he has been with RMR since 1987, and both the SNH and RMR Boards are grateful for his many years of service to the companies.

Francis is a 12-year veteran of The RMR Group and currently serves as a senior vice president of RMR, responsible for asset management and leasing activities at all RMR managed properties. Prior to joining RMR in 2006, Francis was a partner at CBRE/NE Partners, where she provided brokerage and corporate advisory services for large corporate clients on their national commercial real estate portfolios.

Previously, Francis was a vice president at The Gunwyn Company, where she was responsible for the asset management of a portfolio of commercial, retail and residential assets. Francis has more than 30 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. She is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and a member of the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).
