The Springs Living Names Shaffer Executive Director of New Waterfront Community
VANCOUVER, WA — Drew Shaffer has been appointed executive director of The Springs at The Waterfront, a 250-unit senior living community set to open in 2024 in this southwestern Washington city just eight miles and across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. Shaffer will assemble the community team and direct all aspects of community operations, including resident experience, operational performance, and culture-building for the team.
“The Springs at The Waterfront is an exceptional community that requires a skilled executive director,” said Brenda Connelly, president of The Springs Living. “Drew was a natural choice to lead this community, given his breadth of senior living experience in Clark County. As a leader, he builds teams that stay together which drives quality experiences for both residents and staff.”
Shaffer has 17 years in senior housing leadership in the Vancouver area, most of it spent as ED and regional director of operations for The Quarry Senior Living, and as ED and administrator at Glenwood Place Senior Living.
Conveniently located at The Waterfront Vancouver, The Springs at The Waterfront is designed to meet the standards of LEED Certification for sustainability and Fitwel Certification for health and wellness of residents and staff. The new community will offer independent living, assisted living and memory care services with commanding views of the Columbia River.
Founded in 1996 and based in McMinnville, Oregon, The Springs Living currently owns and operates 19 senior living communities in Oregon and Montana, offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care services. The Springs at The Waterfront will be its first community in Washington. The Springs Living was recognized in 2022 for the third consecutive year on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Aging Services list.
