Harmony Senior Services Introduces Robotics to Senior Living Communities
April 2, 2026
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Harmony Senior Services has launched floor-cleaning robots in its senior living communities on the East Coast, in the Midwest and in the Southeast as part of its Harmony Ascend technology initiative.
The robots will operate seven days a week and clean high-traffic areas such as hallways and common spaces.
John McCarthy, chief technology officer of Harmony Senior Services, said the robots are intended to help staff manage time-consuming tasks more efficiently and spend more time with residents.
The AI-powered robots can autonomously map spaces and scrub, sweep, vacuum, wet mop and dry mop floors. They can also adjust to different flooring types and cover more than 230,000 square feet on a single 10-hour charge.
Leaders at each Harmony community provided education and training for residents and staff on the new equipment. Residents will also take part in a naming contest for the robots in the coming weeks.
