October 2, 2018

Levitt, a licensed nursing home administrator since 1977, also serves as the president of the Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administrators to which he was appointed by Missouri’s Governor in 2011.

Established in 1947 and currently with 320 members, the MHCA is Missouri’s largest association of licensed, long-term, residential and assisted-living facilities. The MHCA is dedicated to driving excellence in the long-term health care profession and improving the dignity and quality of life for the residents of long-term care. MHCA is affiliated with the American Health Care Association, which is the largest and most powerful long-term care advocacy group in Washington, DC.

“The Missouri Health Care Association is a trusted leader in improving the lives of long-term care residents,” said Joe Tutera, CEO of Tutera Senior Living & Health Care. “Having Mike Levitt oversee its critically important mission is positive news for the future of long-term care in Missouri.”

A licensed nursing home administrator, Levitt has held various positions with Tutera over his 30+ years with Tutera Senior Living & Health Care where he currently oversees Tutera’s Continua Home Health. In addition, Levitt manages government relations for Tutera’s senior living facilities, communities and agencies in nine states. Levitt brings his depth of experience as an administrator working daily with Tutera’s senior living communities across the country to this Board position.

“Being elected by the full membership of MHCA is an honor,” said Levitt. “As the largest trade association representing the full continuum of care from post-acute rehabilitation and assisted living to long-term care for Missourians, we have a large responsibility to assure our members they have the resources and support necessary to provide the care and services our residents need and deserve. That is our focus and our Mission on a daily basis.”

A Kansas City native, Levitt serves as president of the Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administrators. He also serves on the American Health Care Association Survey/Regulatory Committee for the 2018/2019 year and is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association. Levitt previously served as board chair of Our Lady of Mercy Country Home where he led the development of a $7 million retirement community owned and operated by the Mercedarian Missionaries of Berriz in Liberty, MO.
